Show Information
The 2nd Annual Sierra Cup Classic Indoor Show will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 in the Fresno State University Save Mart Center Arena and will be a premiere indoor percussion and colorguard experience in California. Our ultimate goal is to offer a WGI Power Regional feel to our Central Valley units, without the expense of traveling to a WGI show out of our area. The day will include a high-camera performance video in 4K resolution, a venue that is unparalleled on the West Coast, bountiful truck/parking/warmup space, indoor floor folding, and critique for Dayton-bound ensembles! We are also working on a solo competition this year! (More info to come on that).
Our adjudicators are some of the best in the business, and are quite active in organizations such as: Bands of America, Drum Corps International, Winter Guard/Percussion International. We utilize WGI sheets, and it is our intent to bring in judges that you may not experience at a local circuit show, so that you have a fresh and unique perspective.
The format of the Sierra Cup Classic Indoor Show will be based on the following classification system:
Scholastic Jr High
Regional A
Scholastic A
Scholastic Open
Scholastic World
Independent A
Independent Open
Independent World
A limited number of units will be accepted in performance and time slots will be based on the timestamp of the full $300 payment (non-refundable, payable online to Fresno State, or by check - instructions to follow after your registration email and an invoice will be sent to you). As an incentive, the cost per unit will be reduced to $250 per unit should you bring multiple guards or a guard and percussion unit. A further incentive for our fall Sierra Cup participation, your unit registration will only be $225. Please keep in mind that a venue of this caliber, as well as the national-level adjudicators are included in the cost - the facility alone costs us about $13,000 to hold this event.
The guard show will run in the morning between 9am and 2pm and the percussion schedule will be in the afternoon between 3pm and 8:00pm. The critique schedule will be set for those groups performing in Dayton later in the spring for WGI World Championships.
Please feel free to contact Steve McKeithen (smckeithen@csufresno.edu) with any questions you may have regarding the show and we hope to see you at the inaugural Sierra Cup Classic Indoor Show!
Sincerely,
Steve McKeithen, Director of the Bulldog Marching Band
